Rehabilitation & Developing a Young Horse
Focusing on one full time training horse a month, a limited number of horses will be selected for Tia's training program each year. Individual training plans are discussed and updated as the horse's physical and mental health develops. There are no shortcuts in horse training that lead to a willing and sound partner. It can take a minimum of 6 months to start to develop good physical and mental balance in a young horse or to correct a poorly laid foundation. She has experience with behavioral issues, trailer loading, confidence building and reconditioning the mind and body. Reach out to learn more about Full & Partial training options.
Having grown up right across the street from the Pilchuck Tree Farm, I know these trails by the back of my hand. Whenever I haul out to ride anywhere else, I'm reminded of how lucky I was to have such beautiful trails right in my back yard. I would often ride my horse to my friends house and spend all day out riding. Trail riding is my favorite thing to do and my specialty. I love sharing this joy with my students and their horses!
I like to say that horses are mirrors of us, if we are nervous, your horse will be as well, if you're scared, so will your horse, if you're hesitant to go, so will your horse, If your calm, quiet and confident, your horse will be as well. We have to build a relationship of trust and understanding with our horses for them to be able to trust that we will take care of them no matter where we point them.
Lessons are available for anyone ready to become a student of the horse with a focus on sound horsemanship practices. Every lesson is tailored to meet the needs of the individual student and their horse. My lessons provide an understanding of expression, balance, posture, correct use of aids such as a riding crop, cavesson or rope halter. The type of saddle you ride in isn't important, coming with an open mind to learning something new is.
Struggling with behavioral issues? Are you or your horse struggling with confidence? Have a young horse you need help developing? Issues with trailer loading? Want to learn more about biomechanics, healthy movement and anatomy? Need help with saddle fit? I can help with all of this and more.
If you have a group of people that need help with any of the issues referenced above, lets put together a weekend clinic that caters to your specific needs. Tia will travel to you in and around Washington State to help you with your equine friends.
